About Heather

Hi, I’m Heather!

I’m a lifelong creative, photographer, and mom of three, living in Calgary, Alberta, with my family and our three dogs. Most days, you’ll find me with a coffee nearby and a few creative projects underway.

I’ve loved making things for as long as I can remember. I earned my Bachelor of Design in Photography from ACAD in 2010. Now the Alberta University of the Arts. Photography has been a big part of my life ever since. My curiosity also leads me to sewing, illustration, digital art, and whatever craft catches my attention next. When I’m ready for a quieter moment, I love getting lost in a book.

Getzlaf Creates is my little hobby haven—a place to share hobbies, crafting, and inspiration. Here, you’ll find sewing projects, things I’m learning, books I’ve been reading, photography, and ideas that make me want to create. I share the finished pieces, but also the experiments, plan changes, and lessons along the way.

As a busy mom, I’m learning to make room for the things I enjoy without pressuring every project to become something more. I hope this space encourages you to make that room for yourself, too. You don’t have to choose just one hobby, be an expert, or make something perfect to enjoy creating.

Grab a coffee and have a look around. I’m glad you’re here!

xoxo
